Pisa

Located a few km from the mouth of the Arno river, Pisa is famous all around the world for its peculiar Leaning Tower. It is just the bell tower of the Cathedral, placed next to it, that in ancient times leaned on one side because of a depression of the ground. The tower has now become the symbol of the city and of the entire Italy.
The complex of marble palaces placed in Piazza dei Miracoli is absolutely spectacular. The bright white color of the Cathedral, of the Tower and of the Baptistery makes the atmosphere of the square really magical. The imposing size and beauty of the palaces have already shocked people at the time of their building operations, but the name “Piazza dei Miracoli” (Miracles Square), still use today, is due to the italian poet Gabriele d’Annunzio.
